I’m sure, by now you have heard the song, “All I want For Christmas” a few dozen times by now, either on the radio, on TV or in the Malls and shops. It’s a catchy tune. Hopefully they have not played it toooo much and your left eye is now twitching uncontrollably each time it comes on, but hey… Below you will find a small portion of what I would like to find under my pixilated X-Mas tree. I have omitted the obvious stuff, like world peace, feeding the hungry of the world and the end of all wars… yeah, yeah, we all wish for that. I’m talking about the “IMPORTANT” stuff, like…
I wish… Canada would win the World Junior Hockey Championships. The tourney is every Christmas/New Year’s and I look forward to watching it every year. It’s a chance to see the tars of tomorrow, today. Sid the Kid, John Taveras, Jordan Eberle, etc are just some of the names to play in the tourney for Canada. GO CANADA GO !!!
I wish… That another e-fedding community would open up somewhere. Not that I wish bad things for the EFKers or Roughkut, but that some of the fringe sites such as CWC, eWzine, JTF Squaretable to either expand, or expire. Too many sites have divided the e-fedders into too many sites. A couple of sites should combine and bring their players into the same fold as RK and EFK have..There has not been a new major community site in years.
I wish… Everyone would read my next issue, the year-end awards issue (Shameless self-plug). It’s my third annual Awards, where I hand out congrats in categories that don’t usually get recognized.,
I wish… More e-feds would open up this year. It seems the same sort of feds are appearing time and again. Where are the ridicules “Xtreme” feds; the wild named feds that spurted out equally wild-named characters; the newbie owner feds stocked with newbie players. Variety breeds change and e-fedding can only survive if it keeps changing with the times.
I wish… There were more video podcasts out there. Ewzine used to do an OK one and XWF used to do a great one. But no one seems to want to get in front of the camera to produce one these days. Radio-style podcasts like EFK’s are fantastic, but sometimes the sheer visual comedic elements of a live show can be pure gold and create ever-lasting moments not capable with audio-only formats.
I wish… That Sybil never returns to the e-Fedding world. He was the most unstable element I have ever seen in this game. He’s so frustratingly stupid that even Ghandi would have knee’d him in the coconuts. I was so amused to see his run in with the cops last year. Karma’s a real bitch sometimes, but boy does it work !!!!!
I wish… That THE SCREW MAGAZINE will go on forever. Sure, sure it has already surpassed all other online e-fedding magazines in both times published (35 issues) and length of service (since 2005). As long as I remain online, THE SCREW will be there.
I wish… There was another online e-fedding magazine out there. Competition is healthy, and one day there will be no THE SCREW, so someone should be there to take my place. I’ve seen some good attempts out there, but they never seem to last more than an issue or two..
I wish… They played “A Christmas Story” on TV more often. Last year I seen it once and not at all this year. Yeah, yeah, I can spend $5.00 and buy it on blue-ray, but I’m cheap… so there!
I wish… One day to be able to enter and have fun, competing in an e-Fed tournament again. There have been a few staged since I gave up entering them that have come off with very little drama, so this wish seems like it may come true faster than some of the other ones. And as an addition to this wish, I wish to one day enter a tourney as large as the old Global Titles Tournaments of the 90’s, where they had 160 or more entries.
I wish… For the return of the old EFK shoutbox. I used to be able to scroll back and read what I’ve missed hours ago. Now, I’m lucky if I catch what was typed 2 minutes before I got there. I know, I know, it costs money to have it go back to the old ways, but you can’t get us used to it for free, then, once we are addicted to it, yank it away and claim “it costs money now”. Isn’t that what drug dealers do?
