IT'S JUST A THEORY BUT...

Vince MacMahon is getting ready to retire.

Yup, you heard it first here. Now it may not happen today, tomorrow or even next year. But some time very soon, old Vinny Mac is hanging it up. Why do I think this? Let me tell ya.

V.M. has always wanted to be a wrestler. Back when Vinny Sr. was running the WWWF Vinny Jr. was training to be a wrestler. But before he ever got a match, Vinny Sr. put a stop to Jr's dreams and forced him to quit and go to work for his Capitol City Wrestling as a interviewer/commentary person. You see, back then, the WWWF was a mere east coast territory in a handful of cites and having one's family members act as employees was a good way to keep costs down. And so, poof, went VKM's wrestling career as he became a microphone holder instead. He would keep this role for decades, even into the early 90's as full WWF owner and controller.

But I guess, some dreams die hard, as Vinny soon started to end up in the ring more and more. First he was doing in-the-ring promos and then there was the Stone Cold storyline. From that point onward, it was common to see him in the ring competing along side his employees. In this time he's gotten quite a few titles, awards and accompishments that looks a lot like the resume of a highly successful career wrestler... Royal Rumble winner, WWE World Champion, ECW World champion, plus victories over just about every top wrestler.

But in those times, Vinny always seemed to gel somehow with the wrestlers he was involved with. He played the perfect role as the evil owner of "THE CORPORATION" during the D-X, Rock, Stone Cold era...and his "KISS MY ASS" club fit well during the time he had it going. But lately, his appearances have not been equally as memorable. His "feud" with Bobby Lashley over the ECW title, was boring as heck and had no believable reasons behind it.His Battle of the Billionaries story that was just an excuse to place him in the show when a popular storyline involving Calito and Ric Flair was left off the card, had people shaking their heads. His "faked" death angle was already limping when the WWF cancelled it due to the Benoit tragedy. And his last angle, the illegitamate child story made no sense at all, as it was too strung out, badly explained and horriblied revealed. After all that buildup, having a minor character like Hornswaggle placed into the story completely killed it.

LIke all wrestlers, when they are slumping in popularity and when storylines don't seem to be panning out, they are given one last chance, before being released. Vinny is a businessman. He knows talent and what it can do for his bank account. Right now, he has no chemistry with any of the top wrestlers in the WWE. Him and Cena do not mix well. Battista and the boss seems far fetched. He no longer has any connections to the Undertaker. Even his dealings with Randy Orton seemed forced. So rather than keep a non-producing person on the roster and taking up valuable air time, Vinny is going to do what he always does someone is bringing him in the ratings and the pay-per-view buys... he's going to release them... even if it has to be himself.

I theorize, that Vinny will try one last storyine/angle involving himself. One big push to see if he still has it. If it works, he's back on top, and life will go on with the WWE owner being a regular on RAW as well as in the ring. But if not, say bye bye Vinny, as he takes himself out of the spotlight for good.
