From time to time the E-World takes a step forward. Back when it was just an e-mail-to-e-mail game, forum posts changed all that, and the game made another step forward. Then websites were created as a front for these forum sites, and once again the game took another step forward. Well, I am here to inform all that play the noble game of e-Fedding, that another step has been taken. And the game of roleplaying, will not be the same again.

Back in Issue #19 of THE SCREW, I wrote an article about “Future feds” in which I stated that the best feds would be those that let the owners control all the angles and storylines. Well, I see that this notion has not caught on just yet, but a variation of this idea has been created…in Siberia, Russia. Siberian Wrestling, is an e-fed that has done what no other fed has done, it has broken the mold of what e-fed sites have been cast from and forged a new direction for all to follow. What am I talking about? Listen to this.

Siberian Wrestling is an E-Fed that takes place in an abandoned prison in the far north of Siberia, Russia. All roster members live in the facility and perform there for the amusement of the “warden” and the assembled downtrodden Russian peasants. There is no media, no autograph seekers and no contact with the outside world… just you, your cell, and your next match. The owners have disregarded the standard way of setting up a site and created a new format. It has broken every cliché in the wrestling book. No more “world” titles; no more 15,000 screaming fans in sold out arenas in major metro cities; no more ego driven wrestlers that are larger than the company they work for; no more letting your roster spend 6 ½ days flying around the earth as ninjas, millionaire poker players or CIA assassins just to have them stop by for their match before heading out again. No way. You sign with Siberia and you “Stay” in Siberia. You are an equal prisoner here, let out but once a month before you are hauled back to your cell.

You see, your role-play setting has been set for you. You are in a prison…deal with it! There are 1,001 things that can occur in a prison so how well you RP is only limited by your imagination. Plan an escape… train in the basement boiler room… formulate ways to get a visitor or two… break into the records room…or just sit in your cell, with your own philosophical thoughts, it’s up to you.

The results are done for you, as well as most of the segments. So what Siberia does is that it mirrors what a ‘real” wrestling company does… it controls the entire backstage atmosphere for you. Each week you’ll read the results to not only see how you did in the ring, but to see how your character came out of it all and what setting they have been placed in. All you have to do then, is RP, since you already have a starting point.

Another selling point of this new method of e-fedding, is what occurs when you leave Siberia Wrestling. As I stated, you only leave Siberia Wrestling by getting released from the prison, paroled as it were. The lead-up and after effects of your parole makes for a ton of role-playing material in which to write from. Even months later, in other e-feds, you can refer back to your Siberian experiences as backdrops to your present behaviours and matches.

In a world of ever occurring burnouts and complaints of the same-ole-same-ole, Siberia has cast it’s shadow along the landscape.
