Remember, way back in the dinosaur years? Back when you first started off in E-Fedding? For me, that was about a year ago. For others, it was many, many years ago. But back then we had simlilar starts, whereas we jumped from Fed to fed, trying to find a place to call home. a place to settle down and RP for a while. But, when you do find that place, and it ends up getting shut down...(as they all do) and go off to find another place, you soon learn that the years have piled up and you are still RP'ing in the E-World. These oldtimers come to realize aone thing at this point....after all those years of E-fedding, where do you go from there? Do you join, yet another starting Fed and help out the newbies....well, sometimes. Do you start your own E-fed and get all your long time E-buddies to join up....well, sometimes, that too. Do you get tired of the actually roleplaying or judging them and forget running or helping out E-feds and move on to those E_fed sites that rate or resource multiply feds?.... sometimes too. But what I've found is that although most long time E-Fedders do those things, they end up doing one particular thing.... they seek out "OTHER" longtime E-Fedders. IN other words, they play "THE SAME GAME".

But once these people have gotten together with others that think the same as them, that's when things get interesting. These oldtimers do what other oldtimers do in other areas of life.... talk as if they were the world's authority on the subject they have experience in. but experience doesn't mean automatic wisdom. I've seen long time E-fedders who are absolute crap at RPing...while at the same time I've seen newbies take to the game with style and flare.

So, who are these oldtime fedders? You've seen the type...the "Wrestling sucks" poster who no longer watches wrestling on TV, yet is somehow still active in the E-Fed world. They claim to be authorities on such matters as roleplays, E-feds, and how to do things "properly". They think that because they have soooooo much experience typing away on a computer, competing online in Fed after fed, that they have somehow become this great source of wisdom when it comes to the E-fed world. Well, folks, nothing can be farther from the truth.

You see, when these long timers get together, they tend to stick around because they have the same views as the other longtimers. Guys who like 6-9 page character development RP's that touch on inner truths and how the brain of their characters' work...tend to stay in places where other RPers write 6-9 page character development RP's that touch on inner truths and how the brain of their characters' work. Other longtimers find places where the most important thing is simply great storylines. But you see what I'm getting at? Sooner or later, the longtimers have a habit of finding others that think like them and then staying in one spot..

So, what does this mean, when long time fedders get together in the same place? It means that a certain set of beliefs will "seem" to be true because soooo many people would 'seem" to agree. For example... if a newbie posted how he thought his/her RP should have won over another E-fedder's RP...and then a few of the longtime (sometimes judges or staff) E-fedders jump in and explain why the other RP won. Does this mean the newbie who lost did a bad RP? Heck no. Are the long time E-fedders right? Heck no. Are the long time E-Fedders wrong then? Heck no, either. All this means is that certain places end up getting certain personality of their own, one where the vast majority of its members all believe the same things. Those that have any other opinion have to fight the stigma of the long timers playing the 'experience" card as well as the long time Fedders posting about their numberous achievements to back up their claims. That's not a bad thing thou.... for they truly believe in what they post. I am not one to be so bold as to say they are wrong. Outdated....behind the times...and a dinosaur maybe....tee hee, but not "WRONG". After all, what they believe may have been true at one time, and they will firmly believe it's still true right now.You know the type...the type that claim wrestling was better back in the "OLD" days, or that hockey was soooo much better back when Gretzky or Orr played the game.

What it boils down to is doing exactly what the old timers do...find a place that matches what you believe E-fedding should be like. If you are in disagreement about something on your present site...or another site you visit....just go with the flow. You are neither right nor wrong...just out of step with the oldtimers. And if you too stay in this game long enough, you'll find yourself migrating to others of the same mind set... just like the rest of the E-World dinosaurs.
