Wrestling Gods... you've seen the type. They are verywhere in the wrestling e-world. Your own heavyweight champion, may indeed be...a Wrestling God.But what is so bad about being a wrestling God? Well, maybe it's the fact that they consider themselves better writers than everyone else Or, maybe it's also the fact that they think their experience in e-fedding has given them the wisdom that no one else possesses. How about the fact that "gods"have ego's the size of Rhode Island that refuses to accept any sort of critical comments thrown their way. Why is all this bad? Well, in all honesty is not bad...per say... more of a laughable annoyance really. Let me explain.

E-Fedding is basically when two or more people type up a roleplay or two and submit it for comparison against something their opponent(s) have also done. The winner of this little game is the one that others have deemed "better" than the rest. Wrestling Gods have a tendency to be frequent RP winners. Small wonder some people let that go to their heads enough to have them thinking they are "better" writers than everyone else. The laughable part is... all this proves is that these people are better "ROLE-PLAY" writers... not actual writers.

Now I hate to burst everyone's bubble, but professional writers can compose circles around e-fedders. An important point is that while Wrestling Gods can be levels above a lot of people in terms of sentence structure, descriptive narration and story flow, very few know the guide-lines of actual fiction writing, like those posted by their local Writer's Society. Fiction and non-fiction writing is an art form that has been practised for centuries and the rules for deciding what is and what is not a good piece of writing, is already layed out. There is not much leeway in terms of creating a good piece of writing, either you follow the rules or you do not. That is the only set of judging true writers need. Sorry to break it to the Wrestling Gods... but no judging is necessary, no matter how many of your friends you get to gush over your work.

Still on the point of writing, since roleplays tend to be smaller than novels they are classified as short stories. Short story writing is but one form of writing. I've seen many a Wrestling God think that since they can write fantantic roleplays, they can translate that to writing a book, a common rookie writer assumption. Again, I state, novel writing and short story writing are two different forms of writing, with very different story structures and flow patterns. Anyone that tries to transfer RP writing into novel writing is in for a rude awakening.

But just because you have a great win/lose record is no reason to consider yourselfa good roleplay writer thou. This all comes back to what is considered a good roleplay in the first place. Well, there is no right answer to that. Just because a bunch of people in a Fed say you write great RP's doesn't mean it's true. All it means is that you write great RP's... for that Fed. Maybe that same style also gets you a lot of wins in another Fed, does that mean "NOW" you can call yourself a great RP writer? No. No it doesn't. It still means you write great RP's in a single Fed.

Now, as far as this so called wisdom goes... boy oh boy. I've seen these Wrestling Gods poke in their opinions on many a subject trying to put an end to it, by exclaiming "You all don't understand anything about it... I've seen this sort of thing happen before... so shut the F'up" everytime I read one of those posts, I shot milk out my nose in laughter. You see, that is soooooo ego-centric, it's unbelievable. Experience alone is no reason to believe anyone has the right answer. What works in some circles may be totally useless in others. For example, someone may be part of a Fed that values in-depth roleplays that show the true character of the player... they want to see what motivates them, and why he/she is the person they are today. This player may then get used to roleplaying in this style, and move to another fed that also shares this value. They also add a few tournaments to their resume, where this style is also rewarded. Soon, their "experience" tells them, that this is what makes a championship roleplay and becomes part of this so-called "wisdom" that they share with others. No other method is true, because their experience tells them otherwise. Same goes if they were e-fedding in a set of Feds and groups that valued wrestling-themes instead. Despite what the Wrestling Gods think is tried and true, there are many correct answers to E-Fed world questions. No one is more right, than anyone else.

Which brings us to ego. This underlaying trait stems from the first two characteristics of considering yourself a Wrestling God. They are always right, and always win. It's hard being humble when this occurs. But having an over-sized opion of your own self worth is hard to recognize in yourself. Wrestling Gods will argue and argue, trying to hammer their point home, never backing down. Why? Because they are right, their experience tells them so. The fight alone boosts their ego further, because in their eyes, they are proving you wrong, and themselves correct. Having anyone agree with them is not important, since no one has their experience or talent enough to understand the situation like they do, or grasp the concepts they have outlined. The flaw in that logic, is that if their point was indeed a valid one, it would be universally understandable and easy to grasp. The only way to deflate an over sized ego, is to not feed into it. Arguing will get you nowhere, so the next time a wrestling God sticks his/her nose into a subject, treat them like a common, newbie poster... thank them for their imput, and then move on and ask for other opinions; not acknowledging them any further.

Finally, how do you handle the Wrestling God? Like any other annoyance, you ignore it. Ego's need an audience, writers crave praise, and wisdom needs to be passed on. By taking away all these from the Wrestling God, you take away everything from them. Don't be critical with them, even negative comments and attention, is still attention. Yes, yes I know it's hard some time, not to reply to what you may consider ignorant or upsetting material or posts, but you have to. The Gods demand you reply... they are superior... and need every opportunity to prove it.

Be the bigger person and don't give them the satisfaction. That my dear readers, is what takes real god-like ability.
