From time to time I sit around and type up a bunch of ideas as the mood hits me. Sometimes they become full blown written articles for THE SCREW and sometimes they become nothing. So instead of letting these minor blogs of stuff go to waste, I've decided to lump a few together and make a mish-mash article of various e-World concerns. They may not be as in-depth as I'd like, but I'm sure you'll find them interesting never the less.Enjoy

WRESTLING IN ROLEPLAYS

I've said it before and I'll say it again E-wrestling is about wrestling! There is no getting around that fact and to me, is not a debatable issue. Many people, mostly long time Rpers thou, state that RPing is not about wrestling, but about writing. They claim that E-Fedding is about who the better writer of roleplays is.I agree with this staement 100%. But for me, that statement means something totally different than what others claim. For them, it's all in the writing ability only. Well, literally that's true. But they gloss over one thing, a very important thing that ruins their theory on writing ability. And that is the fact that E-Wrestling is really nothing more than "theme-Writing".

Theme writing is when you are given a subject before-hand and asked to write a piece of fiction, based on that subject. But in order to do this a writer must create a theme around the subject in order to make their point So if the subject is "WAR" you can write a piece that makes the point that "WAR IS DESTRUCTIVE", which becomes your theme. You simply can not create a theme without a subject to refer to. In E-wrestling terms, the subject is wrestling and the theme becomes the point of your RP. Some RP themes may include promos that trash their opponent. Some RP themes can be to show the superior abilities of their wrestler compared to their opponent. While another may be to show what the wrestler does away from the wrestling arenas. But without the underlining subject of wrestling, the themes just do not work.

I think some people think that they do not need to stick to the subject of wrestling because in order to be creative they must shy away from such things as in-ring promos, trash talk rants or how-I-train role-plays. Well, that may be true but if think that's all a wrestler does then you are not as creative as you think you are. It's actually quite hard to stick to a single subject week after week, coming out with original material. But their are those that can do it and I applaud them whole-heartedly. It's also why I feel so many RPers start off writing about wrestling a lot, then switch to other subjects, such as relationships, second jobs and mundane daily activities as their subjects instead. They simply can't figure out anything for their wrestler to do or say (their role) on the subject of wrestling and branch off course to other subjects.

If someone was to write a role-play simple telling a story about the off-duty life of their wrestler, they have failed to roleplay properly. Why? Because all they have done is use the literary elements known as charactization, setting, tone and maybe even conflict. Any subject they produce is no longer about wrestling, thus any theme/point will also not be wrestling related. The roleplay fails because you have not written a piece that captures a section of time in which your e-Wrestler exists. There is no role to forefill because the role was supposed to that of a wrestler. The best writers of roleplays in the e-World are those that use subject and theme correctly by creating a written piece that shows their character as a wrestler.

In e-Wrestling your character exists as a wrestler competing in a made up federation. That's their job. Yes they have other interests but you must not let these other interests become the overall subject matter. When you want to place your character in that role of pretend wrestler, you write a roleplay. But in order to do that properly, you have to accept the subject as well, for subject and role go hand in hand. There is "NO" getting around that. It's the only way to RP properly as the game was originally intended to. Those that wish eWrestling to become a writing contest can do so, by all means. I have no qualms with that if your fed judges agree that is what they consider championship material.

Just quit thinking that it's the proper way to roleplay.

BURN OUT

E-Wrestling burn out is when the game just does not hold your interest any longer. It effects your ability to function as a Rper, fedhead, or staff member because it saps your motivation. And it's this motivation that fuels creativity. So, how do you avoid it? Simply. Just treat E-Fedding the way it was supposed to be treated... like a game. E-Fedding, be it ownership, staff member, Rper or other must never become too time consuming.Look at it from this prospective... say you love to play LEGO BATMAN on Ninetendo Wii. If you came home and shut your Wii on immediately and didn't shut it off until you were ready for bed, and spent your off days playing it as well... chatting online with other players, posting on forums about the game and making graphics for websites, etc, etc.If this is your behavior sooner rather than later, you'd get pretty sick of LEGO BATMAN. But if you only play it from time to time, a few times a week, for a few hours, the game will retain it's allure and the fun you have playing it will not fade away from over exposure.

So if burn out is starting to get to you... back away from the computer. Go out, get a taco, watch a hockey game (I hear the Devils are doing great this year), anything other than E-wrestling related stuff. So when you finally do sit back down to immerse yourself into the e-World, they will be a lot of new and interesting stuff you may have missed, while enjoying life!

INTERFED COMMUNITIES

There are many e-Wrestling communities out there that cater to the needs of the E-wrestling crowd. These places offer resources, Forums, and anything inbetween. everything you'll need to play the game of E-wrestling is out there on one of these sites you just have to look. But then, there's the rub huh? Which one do you hang out at? What's the best one out there? Well, I can't tell you that, you have to make up your own mind on that based on your own tastes. Some sites are out-of-character based, setup to offer Fedders a place to gather and be themselves. Other sites are more serious and offer continuous content, headlines, results updates etc. Some cater more to owners and promoting their E-Feds while still others are more rolepayer based. So you see not too many offer the same thing, so picking a "BEST" one based on it's contents, is not something I'm prepared to do.

The larger communities include.... EWzine, Roughkut, Efed Knights and The Experts. Medium sites include Primetime Central, JTF Squaretable, The Collective, Pro Wrestling Council and EWmania. while smaller communities include, Efedheads, Pro Wrestling Central and Wrestling Clique. There are more, but those are the ones that stand out from the rest. There are quite a few more, some even on hiatus like the WeWa, NeWA, and Underground Global Promotions. That's quite the list to choose from wouldn't you say? A lot of choice for a lot of different needs, wants, schedules, devotion and desires.

But care must be exercised so that wars do not break out over "who the best is". When eWzine first started to expand they ran into trouble with Roughkut. But from what I've heard, things between them have since been mended. But it does bring up an important aspect about Inter-fed communities and that's loyalty. A person's need to fit in and develop a sense of belonging and acceptance breeds loyalty to those sites that offer members this. So any newcomers to these sites that use brash talk and start to tell everyone how to change things around are just asking for trouble. If you want to fit into these places, I'd advise keeping a low approach to things until they get to know you... then you can be the cake-hole you truly want to be.

That's all I got this time out.

Toodles!!!!!
